Patients scheduled for a sleep study will spend the entire night at Good Night Sleep Wellness Center in plush, private rooms in a hotel-like setting. Sensors are applied to the body to record brain waves, eye movements, muscle tone, body movements, heart rate and breathing patterns. Recording are also conducted. All procedures are completely painless and patients remain free to move around as needed.
Some people typically sleep better or worse when away from home, but in either case this does not usually affect the quality of the sleep study. To make the experience more comfortable, patients are encouraged to bring personal bedclothes, a favorite pillow or blanket along with DVDs, magazines and books. Tests are generally completed by 7 a.m.
Following the sleep study, a board-certified sleep specialist will interpret the recordings to determine a diagnosis and make an appropriate recommendation.
